Brock flu vaccine clinic moves to arena
Brock Township's H1N1 clinic is on the move.
The Durham Region Health Department has announced the clinic is moving from the Brock Community Health Centre to the Cannington Community Centre.
The move was made after the health department announced that the seasonal flu vaccine would also be offered at all H1N1 clinics in the region starting Tuesday (Dec. 1).
?The relocation of this clinic will help us to better accommodate the community as we move to providing seasonal influenza vaccinations at all area clinics. To date, we?ve vaccinated almost 70,000 people across Durham Region against H1N1, but we?ll now also be offering seasonal influenza vaccine which is available to everyone regardless of age or medical condition," said Dr. Robert Kyle, Durham Region's medical officer of health in a press release.
?As we wrap up operations at the Brock Community Health Centre, the Health Department extends its thanks for its partnership in helping the community access the H1N1 vaccine.?
Instead of pre-booked appointments, which had to be made at the previous location, the clinic will now operate as a drop-in. However, all appointments made for the first clinic will be honoured.
The seasonal and HINI shots are available to anyone.
?Both vaccines are important in order to provide good protection against the influenza strains that are circulating,? explained Dr. Kyle.
?Influenza season extends well into the winter, so it?s not too late to receive your vaccination.?
