Here is the Ontario influenza update for the period Sept 27 to Oct 3:
"Overall, influenza activity in Ontario during week 39, 2009, was higher compared to week 38, 2009. Ontario health units reported 53 new confirmed cases of influenza through the integrated Public Health Information System (iPHIS). This count includes 39 laboratory confirmed cases of pH1N1. During week 39, new laboratory confirmed cases of pH1N1 continued to be seen in the North West, Eastern, Central East, Toronto, Southwest, and Central West regions. No new institutional influenza outbreaks were reported. For week 39, Ottawa, Halton, and Hamilton health units reported localized influenza activity, and other health units reported either ?sporadic? level or no influenza activity. The rate of influenza-like illness (ILI) in patients seen by sentinel physicians was above the range that is expected for this time of the year based on the average ILI rate reported in week 39 from the past 3 years."
