Southeast Public Health has reported a potential measles exposure at various locations, including Queen’s University, Goodlife Fitness and the downtown Metro grocery store.

According to a news release from the health unit, the risk is related to a new single positive case of measles, which is a highly contagious virus that spreads throughout the air and can survive on surfaces for up to two hours.

Locations, along with times of potential exposure have been listed:

Goodlife Fitness (64 Barrack St.) Feb. 9 between 8 and 11 p.m.
Queen’s University Kingston Hall (103 Stuart St.) Feb 10 between 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Metro (310 Barrie St.) Feb 13 between 4:45 and 7 p.m.​..

The potential exposures are occurring amid a broader rise in measles cases reported across the country.

Three Kingston locations were identified as potential exposure sites in a measles advisory issued earlier this week.

Southeast Public Health (SEPH) is advising residents of potential measles exposure linked to three Kingston locations between Feb. 9 and Feb. 13: GoodLife Fitness (64 Barrack St.), Metro (310 Barrie St.), and Queen’s University’s Kingston Hall (103 Stuart St.). The advisory follows confirmation of a local case.

Those present at GoodLife on Feb. 9 from 8 to 11 p.m., at Kingston Hall on Feb. 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., or at Metro on Feb. 13 from 4:45 to 7 p.m. are encouraged to confirm their immunization status and watch for symptoms for up to 21 days after the potential exposure, according to a notice issued Feb. 24.​..

City of Toronto warns of potential measles exposure at Pearson International Airport

A confirmed case of measles has the City of Toronto alerting the public of potential exposure on a flight that arrived at Pearson International Airport last month.

Avianca Flight AV324 from San Salvador to Toronto arriving on Feb. 22 and then Terminal 1 Arrivals on the same day from approximately 1:40 to 4:10 p.m. are the areas of concern for possible exposure.

Toronto Public Health also flagged Avianca Flight AV 579 from Guatemala City to San Salvador on Feb. 22 as potential exposure risk.​..

​Health officials say an unimmunized child may have exposed others to the highly contagious virus in Oshawa.

The Durham Region Health Department says it has confirmed a case of measles in an unimmunized child from the area.

Officials are investigating and following up directly with the child’s known contacts, and say members of the public may have been exposed to measles at two locations in Oshawa in recent weeks.

When: Feb. 26 from 1:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., and March 2 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Where: Lakeridge Health Oshawa, emergency department waiting room

An additional case of measles related to a previous exposure site has been confirmed by the Durham Region Health Department. This brings the total to four confirmed cases in Durham Region.

The Health Department is following up with identifiable contacts who may have been exposed to the measles virus. The members of the public may have been exposed at the following locations during the dates and times noted below.

March 15 to March 16 from 8:38 p.m. to 4:46 a.m. (watch for symptoms until April 6)

Peel Public Health is warning the public of potential measles exposure at Toronto's Pearson airport and on two flights on July 7.

The public health agency issued the alert Friday.

The warning is related to a confirmed measles case, it said, adding the public may have been exposed to the virus during the following flights and locations:

Flight BG305 (via Rome), from Bangladesh to Toronto.
Flight AC1986 from Toronto to Moncton.
Pearson Airport Terminal 1, between 1:11 p.m. and 11:45 p.m.
Pearson Airport Terminal 3, between 1:11 p.m. and 11:45 p.m.​..
