Ontario reports COVID numbers for Victoria Day Monday, Tuesday

Ontario is reporting 890 people in hospital with COVID on Tuesday, with 157 in intensive care. On Victoria Day Monday, there were 879 people reported to be in hospital with COVID, with 152 in ICUs.

Due to the holiday weekend, figures were not available on Victoria Day Monday so two sets of data were released on Tuesday for both days.

Last Tuesday, there were 1,345 hospitalizations with 165 in ICU, showing a decline week-over-week.

According to latest data for hospitalizations, 58 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19. For those in ICUs, 31 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 619 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Tuesday and 668 on Monday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to PCR testing eligibility. The provincial case total now stands at 1,296,786.

The death toll in the province has risen to 13,164 as one new virus-related death was added on Tuesday and two deaths on Monday...

Ontario is reporting 1,082 people in hospital with COVID on Wednesday, with 160 in intensive care.

This is up by 192 for hospitalizations and up by three for ICUs since the previous day. Last Wednesday, there were 1,248 hospitalizations with 163 in ICU.

According to latest data for hospitalizations, 59 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19. For those in ICUs, 35 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 775 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to PCR testing eligibility. The provincial case total now stands at 1,297,561.

The death toll in the province has risen to 13,175 from the previous day as 11 new virus-related deaths were added. This includes one death from more than a month ago that was added to the total following data cleanup...

This is down by 21 for hospitalizations and unchanged for ICUs since the previous day.

Last Friday, there were 1,165 hospitalizations with 163 in ICU as figures continue to decline week-over-week.

According to latest data for hospitalizations, 59 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19. For those in ICUs, 39 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 1,096 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Friday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to PCR testing eligibility. The provincial case total now stands at 1,299,874.

As the pandemic continues, Quebec reported 10 new deaths and a drop in hospital numbers associated with COVID-19 on Friday.

The number of hospitalizations stood at 1,288, a net decrease of 27. In the last day, 61 patients were admitted and 88 were discharged.

There were 36 people with the disease in intensive care, a drop of seven.

The province registered 590 new infections of the novel coronavirus based on PCR testing, which is only accessible to certain groups...

There are 865 people in hospital in Ontario with COVID-19 on Saturday, according to data released by the province.

The same data shows 144 people in an Ontario intensive care unit (ICU) either with or due to the virus.

The numbers represent an overnight drop of 83 in Ontario’s COVID-19 hospitalization data. On Friday, there were 948 people in hospital with the virus and 154 in an ICU. There were 10 people fewer in ICU on Saturday compared to Friday.

Ontario reports 2 more COVID-19 deaths as ICU admissions stay steady

Ontario is reporting two additional deaths related to COVID-19 while intensive care admissions remain steady.

On Sunday, health officials said 643 people in hospital have tested positive for COVID-19, including 145 patients in intensive care.

This comes a day after the province reported 144 people in the ICU – the province's lowest COVID-19 intensive care occupancy in six months.

Of those hospitalized, 40 per cent are receiving care for the virus while the remaining people who tested positive were admitted for unrelated reasons.

In intensive care, 65 per cent of patients were admitted for COVID-19.

Ontario is reporting its lowest intensive care occupancy since November while the province logs 15 additional deaths related to COVID-19.

On Tuesday, health officials said 808 people in hospital have tested positive for COVID-19, including 140 patients in the ICU. The last time the province recorded 140 intensive care admissions was on Nov. 26.

This comes a day after the province reported 611 people in hospital – the province's lowest COVID-19 hospitalization occupancy since March. However, health officials have noted that not all hospitals report their COVID-19 data over the weekend.

Forty-one per cent of patients hospitalized and 68 per cent of people in the ICU who tested positive for COVID-19 are receiving care for the virus. The remaining people who tested positive were admitted for other reasons...

Ontario is reporting the lowest number of COVID-19 patients in intensive care in 10 months as virus-related hospitalizations continued to decline.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 670 patients with the virus in Ontario’s hospitals, down from 722 yesterday and 1,005 a week ago.

Among those patients, 119 are in the ICU compared to 154 a week ago.

Today marks the lowest number of COVID-19 intensive care unit admissions since Aug. 16, 2021 when the same number of patients were in critical care.

The ministry said 42 per cent of hospitalized patients were admitted for COVID-19 related reasons, while 57 per cent were admitted for other reasons and tested positive.

Meanwhile, 68 per cent of ICU patients went to a hospital for virus-related reasons and 31 per cent were admitted for other reasons and subsequently tested positive.

Provincial health officials reported two more virus-related deaths today, which they said occurred in the past month. One of the deaths was a long-term care home resident...

The province is reporting 671 people in hospital with COVID-19 Saturday, with 107 patients in intensive care.

The latest number of hospitalizations is a slight rise of two patients from Friday’s data. However, this is a drop of 10 patients in intensive care.

This is also a significant drop of 194 hospitalizations in comparison to last Saturday’s hospitalizations which stood at 865.

Of the 671 people hospitalized, around 41 per cent of them were admitted because of the virus, while about 59 per cent were admitted for other reasons but then tested positive for COVID-19.

Last Saturday, 144 people were reported in intensive care units. In the past week, Ontario saw a decrease of 37 patients in ICUs...

There are fewer than 500 people in hospital with COVID-19 in Ontario, according to data released by the province.

The number of reported cases also dropped below 1,000 on Sunday.

New daily data shows there are 419 people in hospital with COVID-19 in Ontario and 111 in an intensive care unit (ICU).

The figures represent a 50 per cent drop in hospitalizations compared to a week ago, while intensive care admissions also dropped compared to the previous week.

Overnight hospitalizations figures fell too, although the number of people in intensive care grew marginally from 107 to 111.

The province reported 671 people in hospital with COVID-19 on Saturday and 107 in an Ontario intensive care unit with or due to the virus. A week ago, on Sunday May 28, there were 865 people in hospital and 144 in ICU.

The data included three new deaths. There have been 13,288 deaths since the pandemic began in early 2020...
