Ontario is reporting 1,661 people in hospital with COVID on Thursday, with 202 in intensive care.

This is down by 73 for hospitalizations and a decrease of nine for ICUs since the previous day.

Last Thursday, there were 1,662 hospitalizations with 203 in ICU. This is a 2.1 per cent increase and a 2.4 per cent decrease, respectively, to the figures this week.

According to latest data for hospitalizations from the weekend, 55 per cent were admitted for other reasons but tested positive for COVID-19. For those in ICUs, 33 per cent were admitted for other reasons.

Meanwhile, Ontario also reported 3,560 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Thursday, though that is an underestimate of the true widespread transmission of the virus due to PCR testing eligibility. The provincial case total now stands at 1,252,578.

The death toll in the province has risen to 12,792 from the previous day as 21 more virus-related deaths were added. The report did note that one death was removed from the total...

Ontario reported 13 more COVID-19 deaths on Saturday as the number of patients in intensive care units dropped under 200 for the first time since mid-April.

Since March 2020, the province has reported 12,825 virus-related deaths.

There are currently 1,676 patients with the virus receiving care in Ontario hospitals, down three from yesterday and down eight from a week ago.

Health officials say 44 per cent of patients were admitted to hospital for COVID-19-related reasons and 56 per cent were admitted for other reasons but subsequently tested positive for the virus.

Of those in hospital, 188 are in ICU, a notable drop from 209 on Friday, and from 212 a week ago.

Ontario COVID-19 numbers: 1,410 people in hospital and 187 in ICU

There were 1,410 people in hospital with COVID-19 on Sunday, according to data released by the provincial government.

The data shows there were also 187 people in intensive care.

The figures mean that there were 266 fewer reported hospitalizations with COVID-19 Sunday compared to Saturday. It also suggests a marginal decrease in ICU occupancy.

These figures are likely an underestimate as not all hospitals report data on the weekend.

On Saturday, there were 1,676 people in hospital and 188 people in intensive care. Last Sunday, there were 1,362 people in hospital and 212 in intensive care.

Ontario also reported 2,243 lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases on Sunday. That figure, experts say, is likely an underestimate of the true number of cases due to testing restrictions that limit access to PCR tests in the province.

The test positivity reported Sunday was 14.7 per cent. That is a week-on-week decrease from the 15.5 per cent published last Sunday....
