Ontario reports another drop in new COVID-19 cases with 574 infections logged

TORONTO -- For the fourth day in a row, Ontario is seeing a decrease in the number of new COVID-19 cases reported.

On Tuesday, health officials logged 574 infections after logging 610 cases a day earlier. Over the weekend, Ontario reported 715 and 821 infections on Sunday and Saturday, respectively.

Of the cases reported today, 434 were found in individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 140 are in fully vaccinated individuals.

Right now, there are 330 people hospitalized with COVID-19, including 303 patients who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 27 are fully vaccinated.

As well, of the 179 people in ICU with COVID-19, at least 170 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and nine are fully vaccinated.

This brings the seven-day average for the number of cases reported to 710, which represents a drop from the 716 seen a week earlier...

Ontario reports 463 new COVID-19 cases, smallest increase in five weeks

Ontario is reporting 463 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the lowest daily caseload seen in five weeks. The provincial case total now stands at 581,231.

It is the fewest number of confirmed cases in a 24-hour period since Aug. 17 when 348 new infections were recorded. Test positivity also fell below 2 per cent, also not seen since Aug. 11.

Of the 463 new cases recorded, the data showed 278 were unvaccinated people, 21 were partially vaccinated people, 131 were fully vaccinated people and for 33 people the vaccination status was unknown...

...The death toll in the province has risen to 9,632, as seven more virus-related deaths were recorded...

...Active cases in Ontario now stand at 5,851 — down from the previous day when it was at 6,178, and is also down from Sept. 15 when it was at 5,936...

...Test positivity hit 1.8 per cent, falling below two per cent for the first time since August. Last week, test positivity was at 2.5 per cent...

Ontario is reporting 677 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, as the seven-day average continues to decline. The provincial case total now stands at 581,908.

Of the 677 new cases recorded, the data showed 433 were unvaccinated people, 41 were partially vaccinated people, 148 were fully vaccinated people and for 55 people the vaccination status was unknown...

...The death toll in the province has risen to 9,677, as seven more virus-related deaths were recorded including one of those from more than a month ago due to data cleanup...

...Active cases in Ontario now stand at 5,845 — down from the previous day when it was at 5,851, and is also down from Sept. 16 when it was at 6,129...

...The seven-day average has now reached 665 which is down from yesterday’s at 692, and is also down from last week when it was 732. A month ago, the seven-day average was around 600...

Ontario reported more than 700 new COVID-19 cases and 11 more deaths on Friday as the seven-day rolling average and positivity rate continues to decline.

Provincial health officials logged 727 new coronavirus cases today, up from 677 on Thursday but down from 795 a week ago.

Of the latest cases, 447 are among unvaccinated individuals, 56 are partially vaccinated, 170 are fully vaccinated and 54 have an unknown vaccination status.

About 30 per cent of all Ontario residents are currently unvaccinated, including children under the age of 12 who are not eligible for COVID-19 vaccines.

Unvaccinated or partially vaccinated people made up at least 69 per cent of Friday’s case tally.

Today’s case count is up after nearly a week of day-over-day declines.

The province logged 463 new cases on Wednesday, 574 on Tuesday and 610 on Monday.

The seven-day rolling average now stands at 655, compared to 724 a week ago.

Eleven more virus-related deaths were reported today, with three occuring more than a month ago and logged today due to data cleaning, according to the Ministry of Health.

One of the 11 deaths involved a resident of the long-term care system.

The province’s death toll now stands at 9,688...

...Ontario labs processed 36,855 tests on Thursday, bringing the positivity rate to 1.8 per cent, down from 2.4 per cent a week ago, according to the Ministry of Health.

Of today’s new cases, 143 are among children between zero and 11 years old, 81 are between 12 and 19 years old, 252 are between 20 to 39, 177 are between 40 to 59, 58 are between 60 to 79 and 17 are 80 years old and over...

...Ontario public schools reported 173 new COVID-19 cases today out of the province’s 4,844 schools.

There are currently 308 COVID-19 patients receiving care in hospitals across the province, with 193 in intensive care units and 134 breathing with the assistance of a ventilator.

Of those patients in ICU, 182 are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status and 11 are fully vaccinated.

Ontario reports 640 COVID-19 cases, 10 more deaths

Ontario reported 640 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 583,275.

Health Minister Christine Elliott said of the new cases, 485 involve people who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status, while 155 are fully vaccinated individuals.

For comparison, last Saturday 821 cases were reported, meaning the 7-day average continues to drop.

Ten additional deaths were also announced on Sept. 25, bringing the provincial virus-related death toll to 9,698. Officials said six of the 10 deaths occurred within the past month, while four occurred more than one month ago and were added due to data cleaning...

...The province indicated that the positivity rate for the last day was 1.9 per cent, which is up slightly from Friday’s report when it was 1.8 per cent, and down from last Saturday’s report, when it was 2.5 per cent.

Provincial figures showed there are 178 people in intensive care due to COVID-19 (down by 15), 128 of whom are on a ventilator (down by six).

Elliott said of those in intensive care, 171 patients are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status, while seven are fully vaccinated...

Ontario reported another 653 cases of COVID-19 on Sunday. The majority of the new cases, 499, have occurred in individuals who have either not been fully vaccinated or whose vaccination status is unclear.

Ontario is reporting 613 new COVID-19 cases on Monday and no additional virus-related deaths. The provincial case total now stands at 584,541.

Of the 613 new cases recorded, the data showed 350 were unvaccinated people, 35 were partially vaccinated people, 159 were fully vaccinated people and for 69 people the vaccination status was unknown...

Ontario is reporting 495 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, the second day in a row the count is under 500. The provincial case total now stands at 585,502.

Of the 495 new cases recorded, the data showed 302 were unvaccinated people, 36 were partially vaccinated people, 115 were fully vaccinated people and for 42 people the vaccination status was unknown...

Ontario reports average of 657 new COVID cases over last two days as Toronto council considers extension of mask bylaw

Ontario is reporting more than 1,300 new cases of COVID-19 over the last 48 hours and its rolling-seven day average is now down nearly seven per cent from this time last week, as the fourth wave of the pandemic appears to recede.

The Ministry of Health confirmed the latest cases on Friday morning after not releasing any data on Thursday due to National Truth and Reconciliation Day.

The two-day average of 657 represents a slight increase from earlier this week when the numbers dipped below 500 on back to back days but is still a reduction from the average reported over the same two-day period last week (702).

Ontario’s rolling seven-day average also continues to decline and now stands at 610. It was 655 last Friday and 724 the Friday prior.

The latest data comes on the heels of Ontario’s Science Advisory Table releasing new modelling which suggested that the Delta-driven fourth wave of the pandemic was “flattening” but warned that we are “walking along a narrow ledge” with cases rising in 19 of Ontario’s 34 public health units, as well as among youth between the ages of five and 11..

...Of the latest cases, 668 were confirmed over the last 24 hours and 647 were confirmed over the previous 24-hour period...

... The Ministry of Health says that there were 163 people in intensive care units with COVID-19 as of Thursday night, as well as another 115 people in other hospital units. The number of COVID patients in the ICU peaked at 194 back on Sept. 17.

Public health officials have previously said that once the number of COVID patients in intensive care crosses 250 there is a risk of some scheduled procedures having to be cancelled in hard-hit hospitals...

TORONTO -- Ontario health officials are reporting just over 700 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday.

The province confirmed 704 new cases of the novel coronavirus, as well as seven more deaths due to the disease.

Ontario’s rolling seven-day average now stands at 607, down from 629 at this point last week...

... Of the new infections reported Saturday, 506 cases involved people who are either unvaccinated, partially vaccinated or their vaccination status is unknown. The remaining 198 infections involved people who are fully vaccinated.

The province recorded seven new deaths on Saturday, bringing the total death tally in the province to 9,750.

The ministry says there are 274 people in Ontario hospitals receiving treatment for the virus and 162 patients are in intensive care units.

TORONTO -- Ontario health officials are reporting 429 new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, as well as three more deaths due to the disease.

Today’s case count comes after officials reported 511 new cases on Monday, 580 new cases on Sunday and 704 new cases on Saturday.

The last time the province reported fewer than 429 new cases of the novel coronavirus was on Aug. 17 when officials logged 348 new infections.

Ontario’s rolling seven-day average now stands at 576, down from 605 at this point last week. The seven-day average has been steadily decreasing...

Ontario reported 476 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, along with 14 additional deaths, as the province’s known active caseload hit its lowest point in six weeks.

The province reported 429 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday and 511 on Monday.

The seven-day rolling average of new cases fell to 574, down from 597 one week ago.

The Ministry of Health said 335 of Wednesday’s cases involved unvaccinated people, people with only one dose of a vaccine or whose vaccination status was unknown.

Not fully vaccinated Ontarians now make up 28 per cent of the population but formed 70 per cent of all cases reported on Wednesday.

There are now 4,579 known active cases in the province, the lowest case burden reported since Aug. 20.

A total of 9,771 deaths have been documented since March 2020.

Of the 14 deaths reported Wednesday, health officials said 10 occurred recently and four others occurred more than one month ago and were added as part of an ongoing investigation into excess deaths...

... There were at least 280 people being treated for COVID-19 symptoms in Ontario hospitals, with 156 in intensive care, an increase of one since Tuesday.

TORONTO -- Ontario is reporting 587 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday as the province releases guidelines on how residents can celebrate Thanksgiving this holiday weekend.

The new infections mark an increase from the 476 cases logged Wednesday and 429 on Tuesday.

The seven-day average of daily COVID-19 cases now stands at about 565, down from about 574 the previous week. With just over 37,000 tests processed in the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Health says the province's positivity rate is about 1.7 per cent.

Six additional deaths were also reported on Thursday, bringing the province’s total death tally due to the pandemic to 9,776. Five of the deaths were confirmed in the last 24 hours while one was the result of a data catchup.

According to provincial data, are 279 people being treated for COVID-19 in Ontario hospitals, with 149 patients in intensive care units (ICU).

Of those in the ICU, 134 are either not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccine status...

TORONTO -- Health officials in Ontario are reporting 573 new cases of COVID-19 and 10 more deaths linked to the disease.

The new infections mark a slight decrease from the 587 cases reported on Thursday. On Wednesday, 476 cases were logged and on Tuesday, there were 429.

The seven-day rolling average now stands at 469, a significant drop from the 597 cases reported last week...

Ontario reported 535 COVID-19 cases on Sunday, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 591,866.

Health Minister Christine Elliott said of the new cases, 388 involve people who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status, while 147 are fully vaccinated individuals.

For comparison, last Sunday 580 cases were reported, meaning the seven-day average continues to drop. On Oct. 3, the seven-day average was 596 while this Sunday it stands at 538. On Saturday, it was 544.

Two additional deaths were also announced on Oct. 10, bringing the provincial virus-related death toll to 9,790...

Ontario reports 848 new COVID-19 cases over the last two days

TORONTO -- Health officials in Ontario are reporting 848 more cases of COVID-19 over the last two days and two additional deaths linked to the disease.

Tuesday’s report brings the province’s seven-day average for the number of cases logged to 524—down from 576 a week ago.

Of the cases reported today, 458 were logged on Monday and 390 were logged on Tuesday.

Most of the infections reported involve individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status, according to Health Minister Christine Elliott.

The province did not report COVID-19 case numbers on Monday due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

Right now, there are 155 people in hospital with COVID-19. Of those patients, 149 are being treated in the ICU. The province did not disclose the vaccination status of those hospitilized...
