Ontario reported 170 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, 22 fewer than the previous day. The province is also reporting three additional deaths linked to the virus.

Locally, there are 44 new cases in Toronto, 26 in Peel Region, 17 in Hamilton, 15 in the Region of Waterloo and 13 in Grey Bruce.

Ontario reported 172 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, an increase of two from the previous day's total. The province is also reporting two additional deaths linked to the virus.

Locally, there are 48 new cases in Toronto, 23 in Peel Region, 11 in Durham Region and 11 in Hamilton.

Here are some other key pandemic indicators and figures from the Ministry of Health's daily provincial update:

Seven-day average of daily cases: 159, down by one from the previous day.

Tests completed: 13,900, which is 5,200 fewer than Saturday's number.

Provincewide test positivity rate: 1.1 per cent.

Patients in ICU with COVID-related illnesses: 127, with 81 needing a ventilator to breathe...

Ontario is reporting 119 new COVID-19 cases today, the lowest daily case count in the province in the past two weeks.

Today's tally is down from 172 on Sunday and 130 one week ago.

With 11,930 tests processed over the past 24 hours, the province is reporting a positivity rate of one per cent today, on par with the positivity rate confirmed last Monday.

The rolling seven-day average is still up week-over-week, albeit only marginally. The average now stands at 157 new infections each day, up from 155 last week.

Of the cases confirmed today, 22 are in Toronto, 15 are in Hamilton, 14 are in the Region of Waterloo and 13 are in Peel Region.

The number of active lab-confirmed infections is now 1,429, up from 1,355 seven days ago.

Dr. Isaac Bogoch says a gradual increase in cases is to be expected as restrictions are eased in the province...

MONTREAL -- Quebec began the week by adding 298 more positive COVID-19 cases to the overall total since the start of the pandemic, which is 376,828.

Of the new cases, 75 were from the past 24 hours.

Of the total positive infections, 364,774 people are reported to have recovered from the disease, an increase of 235 since Friday.

The Quebec Institute of Public Health (INSPQ) is reporting 62 more active COVID-19 cases since Friday for a total of 814.

Quebec added one new death due to COVID-19 since Friday.

The total number of people who have died due to the disease since the pandemic began is now 11,240.

The number of patients receiving care in Quebec hospitals for COVID-19 was the same (67) as it was on Friday. Those in intensive care wards, however, decreased by one dropping that number to 20.

On July 24, a total of 10,487 samples were analyzed...

Ontario reported another 129 cases of COVID-19 and the deaths of five more people with the illness on Tuesday.

Here are some other key pandemic indicators and figures from the Ministry of Health's daily provincial update:

Seven-day average of daily cases: 154; after a precipitous decline that began in late April and continued until about two weeks ago, the seven-day average has levelled out, hovering between 150 and 160 since then.

Tests completed: 13,644

Provincewide test positivity rate: 1 per cent

Patients in ICU with COVID-related illnesses: 127, with 81 needing a ventilator to breathe

Death toll: 9,321

Ontario reports 158 new COVID-19 cases, 4 more deaths

Ontario is reporting 158 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, a slight increase from the day prior. The provincial case total now stands at 549,734.

On Tuesday, there were 129 new cases with 119 on Monday and 172 on Sunday.

According to Wednesday’s report, 25 cases were recorded in Toronto, 19 in York Region, 16 in Waterloo Region, 15 in Hamilton, 13 in Durham Region and 10 in Peel Region.

All other local public health units reported fewer than 10 new cases in the provincial report.

The death toll in the province has risen to 9,325 as four more deaths were recorded.

As of 8 p.m. on Tuesday, 94,116 vaccines (16,768 for a first shot and 77,348 for a second shot) were administered in the last day.

There are more than 8.7 million people fully immunized with two doses which is 67.3 per cent of the eligible (12+) population. First dose coverage stands at 80 per cent.

Meanwhile, 539,031 Ontario residents were reported to have recovered from COVID-19, which is about 98 per cent of known cases. Resolved cases increased by 171 from the previous day.

There were more resolved cases than new cases on Wednesday.

Active cases in Ontario now stand at 1,378 — down from the previous day when it was at 1,395, but is up from July 21 when it was at 1,334. At the peak of the second wave coronavirus surge in January, active cases hit just above 30,000. In the third wave in April, active cases topped 43,000.

The seven-day average has now reached 160 which is up from yesterday at 157, and is up from last week at 150. A month ago, the seven-day average was around 300.

The government said 20,527 tests were processed in the last 24 hours. There is currently a backlog of 8,121 tests awaiting results. A total of 16,511,028 tests have been completed since the start of the pandemic.

Test positivity for Tuesday hit 0.8 per cent. Last week, test positivity was also at 0.8 per cent...

Ontario is reporting 218 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, jumping back into the 200s for the first time in three weeks. The provincial case total now stands at 549,952.

The last time a daily case count reached above 200 was on July 8 when there were 210 cases reported...

...The death toll in the province has risen to 9,328 as three more deaths were recorded...

...The government said 19,425 tests were processed in the last 24 hours. There is currently a backlog of 8,054 tests awaiting results. A total of 16,530,453 tests have been completed since the start of the pandemic.

Test positivity for Thursday hit 1.3 per cent. Last week, test positivity was at 0.9 per cent.

Ontario reported 105 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 (down by 12 from the previous day) with 121 patients in intensive care units (down by one) and 86 patients in ICUs on a ventilator (up by one)...

Ontario reported 226 COVID-19 cases on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 550,178.

“Locally, there are 62 new cases in Toronto, 35 in the Region of Waterloo, 24 in Peel Region, 13 in York Region, 13 in Hamilton and 13 in Halton Region,” Health Minister Christine Elliott said.

It marks the second day in a row the province reported more than 200 cases after weeks of being below that level.

For comparison, last Friday 192 cases were reported.

Eleven new deaths were also announced on July 30, bringing the provincial virus-related death toll to 9,339...

Ontario logs more than 200 new COVID-19 cases for fourth straight day

TORONTO -- Ontario has reported more than 200 new COVID-19 cases for the fourth day in a row as the province breaks another vaccination milestone.

On Sunday, health officials logged an additional 218 infections.

The new cases mark a decrease from the 258 cases reported on Saturday and the 226 cases recorded Friday.

As of Sunday, the seven-day rolling average of COVID-19 cases stands at about 189. One week ago that number was 157.

"Locally, there are 40 new cases in Toronto, 33 in Peel Region, 23 in York Region, 16 in Middlesex-London and 14 in Hamilton," Health Minister Christine Elliott said on Twitter Sunday.

Ontario will not release any data on Monday due to the holiday...

Ontario reported 332 new COVID-19 cases over the last two days on Tuesday.

Because of the civic holiday long weekend, the province published two days worth of data this morning.

Of the total number of further cases, 168 were reported Monday and 164 were reported today. Both of those figures are up from the same days last week, representing roughly 30 per cent growth week over week.

The seven-day average of new daily infections is up to 201, the first time it has risen above 200 in nearly four weeks.

TORONTO -- Ontario health officials are reporting nearly 140 new cases of COVID-19 and 11 more deaths due to the disease.

The province confirmed 139 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Wednesday. Ontario has been reporting fewer than 200 new cases daily for the past three days.

Ontario’s rolling seven-day average now stands at 198, up from 160 at this point last week.

With 17,115 tests processed in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health says the positivity rate in the province stands at 1.2 per cent.

The province recorded 11 new deaths on Wednesday, bringing the total death tally in the province to 9,360.

Seven of the deaths reported today occurred between December 2020 and February 2021, the Ministry of Health said. They are being reported as part of a data catch-up.

There are at least 108 patients in intensive care in Ontario hospitals and 76 are breathing with the assistance of a ventilator...

Ontario reported more than 200 new COVID-19 infections and 14 additional deaths on Thursday with 12 of those deaths occurring earlier this year, according to the government.

The province logged 213 new coronavirus infections today, a significant increase from 139 cases on Wednesday but down from 218 cases a week ago.

Provincial health officials reported 164 new cases on Tuesday, 168 on Monday and 218 on Sunday.

The seven-day rolling average now stands at 198, a slight drop from 199 yesterday but up from 165 a week ago.

In the past 24 hours, two people died with the virus in Ontario bringing the death toll to 9,374.

Twelve more deaths that occurred between February and May 2021 were also reported today due to a data catch-up by public health units, the Ministry of Health said.

Another 183 people recovered from the virus yesterday, resulting in 1,706 active cases across the province.

Ontario labs processed nearly 23,500 tests in the past 24 hours, leaving the positivity rate unchanged from a day ago at 1.2 per cent, according to the ministry...

... There are currently at least 123 people receiveing treatement due to the virus in Ontario hospitals, according to data from local public health units and hospitals.

The ministry said 110 people are in intensive care units (ICU) due to the virus with 77 breathing with the help of a ventilator...

TORONTO -- Ontario health officials are reporting more than 300 new cases of COVID-19 for the first time since late June.

The province confirmed 340 new cases of the novel coronavirus on Friday. This is the highest case count reported since June 26 when officials logged 346 infections.

Today’s case count comes after officials reported 213 new cases on Thursday. Before that, the daily case counts dipped below the 170 mark for three days.

Ontario’s rolling seven-day average now stands at 214, up from 170 at this point last week. The seven-day average has been climbing steadily for the past several days.

With 23,448 tests processed in the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health says the positivity rate in the province stands at 1.4 per cent.

The province recorded 18 new deaths on Wednesday, bringing the total death tally in the province to 9,392.

Sixteen of the deaths reported today occurred more than six weeks ago, the Ministry of Health said. The deaths are being reported as part of a data catch-up.

There are at least 113 patients in intensive care in Ontario hospitals and 77 are breathing with the assistance of a ventilator...

Ontario is reporting 378 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, marking the second day in a row cases have been over 300. On Friday, 340 cases were reported.

The provincial total now stands at 552,056.

According to Saturday’s report, 94 cases were recorded in Toronto, 62 in York Region, 38 in Peel Region, 30 in Hamilton, 20 in Durham Region and 20 in Waterloo.

All other local public health units reported 10 or fewer new cases in the provincial report.

The death toll in the province has risen to 9,401 as nine more deaths were recorded. However, the ministry of health indicated one of those deaths occurred more than two months ago and were included due to a data clean-up...

Ontario reported 423 new COVID-19 cases and six new deaths on Sunday, the fifth straight day of case growth that saw positivity, active caseload and hospitalizations all start to inch upward from the lows notched last month.

The seven-day rolling average of new cases now stands at 261, up from 231 yesterday.

Ontario reported 378 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday; a multi-month high, as well as 340 on Friday.

Sunday's count is the highest overall count recorded in the province since June 14 when 447 cases were reported...

...The known active caseload throughout Ontario reached 2,242 cases, up from 1,667 one week ago.

Test positivity reached two per cent, its highest point since mid-June.

And even hospital occupancy, which has been falling for months, started to increase again.

There were 115 adults in hospital ICUs on Sunday, up from a multi-month low of 106 on Aug. 3.

Of those, 85 were breathing with the help of a ventilator...

Ontario is reporting more than 300 new COVID-19 cases today as the average daily case count continues to rise in the province.

Ontario health officials confirmed 325 new COVID-19 infections today, down from 423 cases on Sunday and 378 on Saturday but up significantly from 168 last Monday.

The rolling seven-day average of new infections now stands at 283, up from 196 one week ago.

No new deaths were reported today.

With 15,805 tests processed over the past 24 hours, Ontario is reporting a provincewide positivity rate of 2.3 per cent, the highest that number has been since late June. For comparison, at this point last week, Ontario was reporting a positivity rate of 1.3 per cent.

The Ministry of Health is reporting a slight dip in the number of patients in intensive care today.

There are currently 113 COVID-19 patients in the ICU, down from 115 on Sunday but up from 108 last week...

TORONTO -- For the fifth day in a row, Ontario has logged more than 300 COVID-19 cases.

Health officials reported 321 new infections on Tuesday, a decrease from the 325 cases recorded Monday, the 423 cases on Sunday and the 378 on Saturday.

The rolling seven-day average of daily COVID-19 infections has jumped significantly in the last week to about 306. Last Tuesday that number stood at 198.

With just under 16,500 COVID-19 tests processed in the last 24-hour period, the Ministry of Health says that province’s positivity rate is now about 1.7 per cent.

An additional two deaths were also reported on Tuesday, bringing the total death toll related to COVID-19 in Ontario to 9,409.

According to provincial data, there are 109 people being treated for COVID-19 in Ontario intensive care units. Of those patients, 72 are breathing with the assistance of a ventilator...
