June 5, 2010, 11:45 Buenos Aires, Jun 5 (Prensa Latina) Only a dozen isolated cases of influenza A (H1N1) were counted in Argentina in the first five months of the year, according to a Health Ministry report released today in the capital.
According to the report on acute respiratory infections for the first 18 weeks of 2010, 10 patients with pandemic influenza were located in the provinces of Buenos Aires, San Juan, Entre Rios, and in this city.
The figure represents only 0.25 percent of patients with eight types of respiratory infections identified, among which the majority (83.4 percent) corresponds to Respiratoio Syncytial Virus (RSV).
The health portfolio report also states that reports of patients with bronchiolitis and pneumonia than those of the same period in 2009, a trend that should stay in the nearby winter months.
In the case of bronchiolitis, precise, between January and May 632 56 000 reported cases, a 14.6 percent increase over the same period last year (49 000 401).
