On: LHSC Declares Influenza-A Outbreak In Unit Of Victoria Hospital

Officials with the London Health Sciences Centre say they've issued an Alert Level Two/Outbreak for Influenza A in a wing of Victoria Hospital.

In a release issued this afternoon, the organization says the designation is prompted by two or more cases of hospital acquired influenza on a specific unit where patients have been in hospital care for more than 72 hours. In this case, officials say the affected unit cares for elderly patients.

As of Tuesday evening, LHSC says there were two influenza-positive patients on the unit and three with respiratory symptoms.

Officials say patients with Influenza A have been placed in private rooms or are in a room with another patient who is positive.

Victoria Hospital has lifted a flu outbreak warning.

The Level 2 outbreak was declared last Tuesday after two patients had confirmed cases of influenza and three others had respiratory symptoms.
