Staff at the clinic were tested and a small number were asked to stay at home for a few days as a precaution, Taha said.

But so far, there are no cases reported and the odds of any spread are very low, Taha said...

...Hundreds of people may have been exposed to the highly contagious disease at locations across Ottawa?s west end between March 18 and 21, including Nepean Sportsplex and an office building in the Kanata Business Park. The two cases revealed by Ottawa Public Health on Tuesday bring the total to four since the first Ottawa case was diagnosed on March 5 in a child whose family had recently visited the Philippines. The new cases were both contacts of previous measles cases, but do not work at or attend St. Stephen Catholic School in Stittsville, where the outbreak had been centred...

The measles case announced by public health officials over the weekend is linked to a previous case in Hamilton from earlier this month, CBC News has learned.

The most recent case stems from a confirmed measles infection that came from a woman who travelled to the Philippines on March 14, says Hamidah Meghani, associate medical officer of health for the city. That means the virus has spread, and is officially an outbreak. It has now infected two people in Hamilton and another in Halton region...

Possible Measles Exposure at Ultimate Sportsplex (Rink City) in Mississauga on March 22, 2014

Brampton, ON. (April 1, 2014) ? Visitors to the Ultimate Sportsplex, also known as Rink City Sportsplex (3636 Hawkestone Rd.), on March 22, 2014 may have come into contact with a patron from a neighbouring business that has been diagnosed with measles.

?Ultimate Sportsplex is adjacent to Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park and visitors to the two facilities on March 22 may have used the same entrance, lobby, washrooms and cafeteria,? said Dr. Kathleen Dooling, Associate Medical Officer of Health at the Region of Peel.

Measles is a highly contagious disease that spreads easily to those who are not immune or are vulnerable. Anyone who has not had two doses of a measles vaccine (MMR or MMRV) or who has not had measles in the past is at risk of infection. Infants under one year of age, pregnant women and people with weakened immune systems can get very ill with measles. The virus can live outside the body (e.g., on surfaces and door handles) for up to two hours.

Anyone who was at the Ultimate Sportsplex, also known as Rink City Sportsplex, in Mississauga on March 22, 2014 between 12:30 and 4:30 p.m. should do the following:

Check your immunization records to make sure you and your children have had two doses of the measles vaccine (MMR or MMRV). Your child?s immunization record (yellow card) or your doctor can provide you with this information. A second dose of measles vaccine is recommended for anyone born after 1969.

Watch for symptoms of measles until April 12 (21 days after possible exposure). These include a high fever; cold-like symptoms (cough/runny nose); sore eyes or sensitivity to light; small spots with a white centre on the inside of the mouth; and a red rash lasting four to seven days...
