From Frame 31 in the above presentation -

*Since January 1<sup>st</sup>, 2013, 210 samples from suspect cases were tested in CPHL (Central Public Health Laboratory) and all were negative.

*National ARI surveillance: 10% of samples for respiratory illness (influenza) from admitted cases are also tested for MERS at 4 sentinel hospitals in CPHL. (Sentinel sites: Sohar, Ibra, SQH Salalah & Al Nahda)

With 10% of all ILI admitted cases tested for MERS and another 200+ samples testing negative, Oman has a strong surveillance program. The negative results indicate that MERS is not widespread in Oman even though one case has just been reported.
