Flu season might be getting early start in Tulsa area

The flu is already being seen in the Tulsa area, which indicates it might be an early season this year.

The best way to prevent the flu is to get the flu vaccine, which is available now at all health department clinics, said Kaitlin Snider, marketing director for the health department.

Usually the flu season peaks in late January or early February.

Last year, however, a peak didn't hit until spring.

Not enough cases have been reported this year to be able to determine the timing and severity of the coming flu season, she said.
