Okieman Comment: Knew it was coming and probably already here in Oklahoma. Still disturbing when it is first reported.

Taft Middle School closes building due to large number of COVID-19 cases, close-contact exposures
Updated: 8:30 PM CDT May 18, 2021

OKLAHOMA CITY ?
Taft Middle School will close its building, and students will move to synchronous instruction for the remainder of the school year after Oklahoma City Public Schools officials said a large number of positive COVID-19 cases and close-contact exposures were reported.

The decision means Taft students, as well as the Taft Fifth Grade Center at Lindwood, will learn from home starting Wednesday until May 26, which is Oklahoma City Public Schools' last day of instruction of the school year.

The move was made in consultation with Oklahoma City-County Health Department officials and out of an abundance of caution. District officials did not say how many positive cases were reported.

Okieman Comment: This school is in the middle of Oklahoma City. They do not say what variant this is. Maybe they do not know yet. Or maybe they do.
