Health department begins tuberculosis testing at Benson High School
The Douglas County Health Department is drawing blood from nearly 200 students and staff for testing

OMAHA, Neb. —
The first round of tuberculosis testing at Benson High School is complete after health experts confirmed a student came down with the illness last week.

Douglas County Health Department officials say close to 200 students and about 12 staff members will have their blood drawn as part of the testing, which started Tuesday morning.

Results of last week's tuberculosis screenings at Benson Magnet High School were released early Friday morning by the Douglas County Health Department.

"Seven individuals were positive for the TB bacteria, but they most likely have latent TB infections," DCHD Director Dr. Adi Pour said in the release. "They were contacted by phone and referred to their regular provider for antibiotic treatment to prevent development of TB disease.?...
