From Dr. Ilaria Capua:
"One of the responsibilities of the OIE/FAO and national reference laboratory for Avian influenza and Newcastle diseases, Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie is the training of veterinarians and diagnosticians in the molecular and classical diagnostics of Avian influenza and Newcastle disease. This training is carried out both on an individual and group level, and can be tailored to the requests of the group/individual.
Group training can consist of workshops of varying duration that are funded by the European Commission through projects such as FLUTRAIN (www.flutrain.eu) and EPIZONE (www.epizone-eu.net), the UN Food and Agricultural organization (FAO) or other bodies.
Staff from the laboratory have also participated as experts in numerous training workshops in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America organised by FAO, the UN international atomic energy agency (IAEA) and the international livestock research institute (ILRI).
For individual training the laboratory provides a number of different modules to choose from and welcomes trainees from all over the world."
