MASSILLON ? A Massillon man has been diagnosed with Legionnaires? disease, the city Health Department has confirmed.

Steve Zickefoose, 46, was taken to Mercy Medical Center on March 24 after coming home from work with flulike symptoms five days earlier, according to his wife, Jan. His condition has worsened during the last few weeks, requiring a respirator to assist with breathing, she said.

The Health Department is working with the Summit County Health Department on the case. Zickefoose works on an assembly line at water-pump manufacturer ASC Industries in Green.

The case is believed to be isolated, according to registered nurse Diana Martin, director of nursing for the Health Department. The source of the disease is unknown.
