Northeast Ohio Local health expert talks flu, norovirus, other illnesses spreading fast
CLEVELAND (WJW) – “We’re seeing an increase in workers, even our own employees, more patients admitted to the hospital,” said Dr. Amy Edwards with University Hospitals.
Cold and flu season is in full swing in Northeast Ohio.
“We are seeing flu, RSV, walking pneumonia, regular pneumonia, respiratory infection after respiratory infection,” said Edwards.

Dr. Andrea Knighton with Akron Children’s said influenza A and RSV are both on the rise.
“At Akron Children’s, we are seeing all different things. Regular cold symptoms, croup, GI symptoms, just a smattering of viruses right now,” said Knighton.

The Ohio Department of Health shows current flu activity is “high,” particularly in Northeast and Central Ohio.
