A Mason City Schools fourth-grader has died just days after she was diagnosed with strep throat and influenza, school officials said.

Sable Gibson received the diagnosis Tuesday morning, which, according to school officials, led to a cardiac arrest Tuesday afternoon.

Cleveland teen girl is first pediatric flu death this season in Northeast Ohio

CLEVELAND ? A 13-year-old Cleveland girl has died from the flu, the first such pediatric case in Northeast Ohio, according to the Cleveland Department of Public Health.

The teen's death is the second pediatric fatal flu-related case in the state for the 2018-2019 season, health officials said. Authorities didn't provide any additional information regarding the girl's death.

Cuyahoga County flu deaths rise to 9

(Cleveland) - Cuyahoga County is reporting two additional influenza related fatalities.

A seventy-one year old East Cleveland man, and a 59 year old City of Cleveland Man are the latest victims to pass away from the virus.

That raises the Cuyahoga County death toll to 9 so far this season. There have been 3 flu related deaths in Summit County, so far there have been none in Medina County.

Clark County has 2 flu deaths as Ohio cases rise

Two people have died from the flu in Clark County in the last month as flu-related hospitalizations have increased across Ohio.

In Clark County, the local health district has investigated 69 cases of influenza this flu season, according to the combined health district?s epidemiologist Anna Jean Petroff.Both victims who died from the flu were elderly, she said. The first died at the end of January and the second died in the beginning of February, Petroff said.

COLUMBUS, Ohio ? The fourth flu-associated pediatric death has been reported in Ohio.

Columbus Public Health and Franklin County Public Health say a 3-year-old boy passed away. This case is the 4th flu-associated pediatric death in Ohio, according to the department.

The department said flu activity has been increasing over the last few weeks, WBNS reports.

PARMA, Ohio? There were two more flu-related deaths in Cuyahoga County, bringing the total for this flu season to 11.

The victims were a 66-year-old man from Cleveland and an 86-year-old woman from Broadview Heights, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health said. They passed away between March 10 and March 16.

PARMA, Ohio? There were three flu-related deaths in Cuyahoga County between March 24 and March 30, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health says.

The victims were a 63-year-old Cleveland man, a 65-year-old Strongsville woman and a 77-year-old Westlake woman. That brings the total number of deaths in the county for this flu season to 14.

54-year-old woman is latest flu-related death in Cuyahoga County

PARMA, Ohio? There was one flu-related death in Cuyahoga County between April 7 and April 13, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health says.

The victim was a 54-year-old woman from Middleburg Heights.

This brings the total number of flu-related deaths in the county to 15 for the 2018 to 2019 flu season.
