Bacterial meningitis is believed to be the cause of one Morgan County toddler's death and another toddler from the county suspected of having the same illness has been hospitalized.

According to Beth Cain, director of nursing at the Morgan County Health Department, a one-year-old boy died Wednesday. She said as of Friday, a one-year-old girl was in the hospital recovering and reportedly in good condition.

Cain said it is believed that the child who died had neisseria meningitidis, and the girl who is recovering likely has the same thing.
