Weekly Influenza Activity Summary:
Cases of Influenza B outnumbered the reported cases of Influenza A this week. Influenza A is more prevalent in the beginning of the influenza season and usually causes more severe symptoms than Influenza B. Influenza B can only infect humans and is not responsible for influenza pandemics. Influenza A can be found in both humans and animals and is usually responsible for large influenza epidemics. Influenza B tends to occur more often in children than adults. Sadly, this week, Montgomery County had a pediatric death associated with Influenza B.
