The National Epidemiological Surveillance System (SINAVE) is in the process of updating and
reviewing its standards with the participation of laboratories, orienting activities toward the
implementation of sentinel unitsclosely linked to the laboratory network for the surveillance
of highly prevalent pathologies.The national reference laboratories working on hantavirus,
influenza, and hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS)have the capacity to act as regional
reference centers since reagents production, special isolation techniques,diagnoses,
characterization and sub-typing of etiologic agents, and quality control are executed.
Training,technology transfer, and reagents were provided for the national network of
laboratories working on those subjects.
Support for the emerging disease surveillance was provided by the Ministry of Health,
in part with funding provided with a Wold Bank loan. External support was given by
DEC, USA, the Laboratory Centers for Disease Control, Canada, and PAHO

Influenza. At the end of 1999, the data contributed by the SINAVE from reporting on influenza syndrome werecompared with those contributed by laboratory diagnostic surveillance. The peak of case reporting coincideswith the peak of viral detection. During 2000, the onset of increased viral activity was detected to begin in week22, with a peak starting in the month of June. Epidemiological surveillance through overall reporting is notsignificant, since the reporting units are behind in their information. The surveillance of influenza is increasingin the country as a result of the sentinel centers, which contribute updated data weekly

Do Argentinian newspapers have it ?
Don't reporters all over the world ask for it ?

does anyone ask for Argentinian sequences ?

rarely do I see reporters who are interested in sequences -
no good story - their readers don't understand the importance

Noble Distinction to the State Laboratory The Sun of Noble 10 of 2009 July By Liliana Castle Pachuca, Noble. - The State Laboratory of Salud Pública (LESP) obtained the second federal place like one of the best ones of the National Network of Laboratories, when fulfilling the indicators of the national program: Walking to the Excellence. The indicators were valued per trimester, by means of an analysis on technical and operative bases, in agreement with the regional and state context; an analytical frame for the instrumentation and the development of the laboratories in support to the monitoring actions was evaluated epidemiologist and diagnosis of diseases. The National Network is conformed by laboratories established in diverse organizations and coordinated by the Institute of Diagnosis and Reference Epidemiologists like part of the National System of Vigilancia Epidemiológica (SINAVE), to support and to fortify programs of monitoring and diagnosis of diseases. With this federal recognition, the LESPH obtains, for third year, to distinguish itself at national level. Prizes obtained the previous them in 2006 and 2007. Prize to level national jeopardizes still more to Secretariat of Health to follow in his task to work more and by good options of attention medical for hidalguenses, since it is a priority of the Government who heads Miguel Osorio, affirmed the holder, Jorge Islands.
