$300,000 swine flu bill for Wellington

Dealing with swine flu cost Wellington's Capital and Coast District Health Board about $300,000 in June.
Board members will hear on Wednesday that swine flu meant the emergency department and laboratory services at the new Wellington Regional Hospital were busier than at any other time over the past two years.
DHB chief executive Ken Whelan says swine flu seemed to hit Wellington early and particularly severely.
He says it cost the board about $300,000 in June for operating flu centres, extra lab testing, supplies and staffing.
The Health Ministry says it is too soon to know how much swine flu has cost the health system as a whole.
