SUNY Cortland warns students about potential meningitis outbreak

CORTLAND, N.Y. -- A notice was sent out to all SUNY Cortland students warning them of a possible meningitis outbreak.
In the message, the college advised students to get checked if they attended an off campus party last week.
The college specifically said anyone who attended a party at 15 Prospect Street on Thursday, February 16th or on Owego Street the following day may have been exposed to bacterial meningitis. They are urging anyone who attended a party at these locations to receive prophylactic antibiotics.
Earlier in the week, a student was hospitalized with a suspected case of bacterial meningitis. At this time, the disease has not yet been confirmed as the student's illness but the college is erring on the side of caution...
