Cortland -- An unusually high number of Hepatitis C cases have been reported in Cortland County, according to a statement from the Cortland County Health Department. An investigation with the New York State Department of Health is now underway...

...The health department said most cases involve IV drug use, predominantly opana and suboxone, which are prescription pain pills that are diluted and injected intravenously. Due to the late onset of symptoms many people are unaware that they are infected...

Cortland, N.Y. -- Public health officials are investigating a surge of Hepatitis C cases in Cortland County showing up mostly among people under 35 who shoot drugs.

Catherine Feuerherm, Cortland?s public health director, said the county has seen 30 cases of Hepatitis C in the last five months. She said Onondaga, Tompkins and other neighboring counties are not seeing similar increases...

Cortland, N.Y. -- An outbreak of hepatitis C in Cortland County among people under 35 who inject drugs is getting worse, prompting community officials to consider providing a syringe exchange service to drug users.

Cortland has seen 10 newly diagnosed cases of hepatitis C since Jan. 1, nine of them among people under 35, according to Catherine Feuerherm, Cortland?s public health director...
