The New York State Department of Health is investigating six cases of mumps at SUNY Buffalo.

SUNY Buffalo has identified two probable and four suspect cases of mumps among students.

The NYSDOH is working closely with the Erie County Department of Health and SUNY Buffalo.

The university says it has issued a notification to all students, faculty and employees...

The Nassau County Department of Health in consultation with the New York State Department of Health is investigating an increase incidence of mumps in individuals who reside in Long Beach and the surrounding communities of Nassau County. To date, 18 cases of mumps have been investigated in Nassau County. The cases under investigation include young adults who have or had mumps-like symptoms.

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. ?A SUNY Plattsburgh student has been diagnosed with mumps, the health department said.

The Clinton County Health Department confirmed the case Monday afternoon.

Officials did not identify the student with the contagious disease. They were working to notify those who may have had contact with the patient and check their immunization records.

So far, only one student has been diagnosed...

The case of mumps at SUNY Oswego that was announced Wednesday is believed to be associated with a recent outbreak in Long Island

Another case of mumps has now been diagnosed in a student at SUNY Plattsburgh, which is about two hours north of Albany.

The state's health department says it's traced the mumps case at SUNY Oswego back to the Long Island area and is now working on tracing the origin of that case identified in Plattsburgh.

Since June, the Nassau County Health Department in Long Island has diagnosed more than 45 cases of mumps...

Second State University College at Oswego student in a month gets mumps

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- For the second time in a month State University College at Oswego student has tested positive for mumps, a contagious viral infection.

In an email sent to students and staff Saturday, President Deborah Stanley said the student in question left campus last weekend, returned home on Monday and saw a doctor. The student received the positive test results Friday afternoon.

The student spent five days in isolation at home and is no longer contagious, Stanley said. They will return to campus Saturday she said...

On Wednesday, October 26, SUNY New Paltz issued a terse statement that the Elting Pool in the Athletics and Wellness Center was being closed until further notice, without further explanation. The following day, the mystery was cleared up: A spate of mumps cases had been reported on campus in the previous couple of weeks, and the common denominator among the victims had been narrowed down to participation in the intercollegiate swimming program.

A follow-up statement from Athletics, Wellness and Recreation director Stuart Robinson was released on Thursday, saying that the department had ?suspended swim practices and workouts until Friday, November 4, 2016 to allow for time to see if there are any more confirmed cases from other members of the program.? In addition, intercollegiate swim meets scheduled at Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey this past Saturday and at Hartwick College in Oneonta this Saturday, November 5, have been canceled...

A possible case of mumps is being investigated in the Watertown City School District.

Jefferson County Public Health officials said the child is fully recovered and has returned to class at North Elementary School.

It's not confirmed to be mumps, but the child's doctor noticed symptoms that are consistent with the contagious disease.

Parents Warned After SUNY Mumps Outbreak Spreads to High School

An outbreak of mumps that has affected more than a dozen people at the State University of New York at New Paltz has spread to the town's high school and could possibly reach even further, according to the school's latest health update.

Officials at SUNY Geneseo said this afternoon that weekend events on campus will go on as scheduled days after a student living off-campus was diagnosed with mumps...

...No events have been canceled, ?but those not immunized are at higher risk and we urge that they take caution in coming onto campus,? said David Irwin, the college?s media relations director.

NEW PALTZ >> SUNY New Paltz now says there have been 21 confirmed cases of mumps on campus and that the college also is tracking an unspecified number of unconfirmed cases, including one in a New Paltz High School student.

The college said on its website that the high schooler had been in close contact with a SUNY student.

The high schooler also has been in close contact with a New Paltz Middle School student and a Duzine Elementary School student, the college said, so New Paltz school district officials ?have notified students, staff and parents ... that they may be at risk of exposure to mumps.?...
