MALONE, N.Y. - Rabies is on the rise in Franklin County, New York. Health officials are warning the public to be cautious as they investigate a handful of recent cases...

...At least four people have possibly been exposed to the rabies virus since the outbreak began, and two are still undergoing treatment.

"There's such a public health concern. If a human gets bitten by an animal that is rabid, and they don't go for rabies preventative shots -- it's called prophylaxis -- then it will kill them," Dr. Robbins said...
