Syracuse, N.Y. -- The Syracuse area is experiencing a surge of flu activity not seen since the swine flu three years ago.

The number of lab-confirmed cases in Onondaga County rose to 210 last week, up from 95 cases the week before.

One Syracuse nursing home operator started administering antiviral drugs to prevent the flu from spreading in its facilities after five residents tested positive for the flu..

Onondaga County sees another 506 flu cases

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The number of laboratory-confirmed flu cases in Onondaga County climbed to 506 last week, up from 365 the week before, according to the Onondaga County Health Department.

Of the 506 cases, 46 involved people who were hospitalized. So far this season the county has seen 1,277 cases...

Syracuse, N.Y. -- The number of flu cases reported in Onondaga County decreased last week for the first time in 10 weeks, suggesting flu activity may have peaked.

The Onondaga County Health Department reported 299 laboratory-confirmed flu cases for the week ending Dec. 29, down from 509 cases the week before...

...The flu is very unpredictable and can die down, then surge again, she said.
Among the 509 cases last week, 51 involved people who were hospitalized.

Syracuse hospitals are seeing a big increase in patients ? some of them complaining of flu symptoms ? coming into their emergency departments this week, said Ron Lagoe of the Hospital Executive Council, a hospital planning agency...
