"One pediatric flu death is already too many:" NY reports fifth pediatric death from flu

ALBANY, N.Y. — The latest report from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) announces one pediatric death associated with influenza in the state. This brings the total to five pediatric deaths this flu season in New York.

A pediatric death is the death of an individual aged 18 or younger.

Three of these deaths were all reported in the same week of Dec. 4-Dec. 10, bringing the count from one to four in a matter of days.

Nationwide, a total of 47 influenza-associated pediatric deaths occurring during the 2022-2023 season have been reported to the CDC...
