Laughlin student dies of meningitis

LAUGHLIN ? A girl who attended Laughlin Junior High School died last week, just one day after being diagnosed with meningitis. It is not known how long she had been ill prior to the diagnosis.
According to Patricia Rowley, manager of Disease Surveillance and Vital Records for the Southern Nevada Health District, the girl was diagnosed with the infection on Oct. 21. She died the next evening.
Laboratory testing indicates that the form of meningitis the girl contracted was not contagious, Rowley said in a letter distributed to parents of children enrolled at the school...
