The Secretary of Health of Nuevo Leon, Jesus Zacarias Villarreal P?rez, today reported receiving a second consignment of 48 thousand vaccines against influenza A (H1N1) to serve the population in the state.

He noted that these doses will be applied to the second risk group, including health personnel are in intensive care and caregivers under age six, as well as small of between six months and two years with respiratory problems.

The first shipment of 20 thousand shots that came to the state in late November, to date only 40 percent have applied to medical personnel and pregnant women, he said.

The state official noted that from April to December 18 in the state were 56 human deaths from influenza.

He added that currently there are three thousand 824 cumulative cases of the disease, three thousand of whom 571 have been discarded.

"We have 36 hospitalized for this disease, 15 of them are in intensive care, a number also far less than what we were driving for the months of August, September and October," he said at a news conference.

He said the 42 MIL 810 doses of vaccine have been received in the state, has been applied to 25 percent across the various health centers and by ready brigades in areas of high influx of people, such as Central Bus.
