The health sector of Nuevo Leon began with the IMSS and ISSSTE the implementation of the first human influenza vaccines.
Monterrey, (Notimex) .- El Sector Salud de Nuevo Leon began with the IMSS and ISSSTE the implementation of the first human influenza vaccines as part of the 1.5 million doses to be delivered over the next four months in the state .
Undersecretary for Prevention and Disease Control dependence, Nemesio Lopez Vargas, said the first stage includes the immunization of all medical, paramedical and nursing staff of public and private hospitals who work in risky areas such as emergency or therapy intensive.
He stressed that priority is given to pregnant women who are in the third trimester because they are considered a high-risk because of your condition, your immune system may be weakened or compromised.
During the official start of the vaccination was performed at the clinic 33 of the IMSS, the official said that as part of a first batch, the state agency received 2 thousand 81 multidose containers with biological, which is equivalent to 20 thousand 810 shots.
He said they hope to achieve a coverage of 100 percent of the vaccines to the most vulnerable groups of the population towards the end of March 2010, by the entire health sector.
He stressed that vaccines for the general population may be available until the first weeks of next year, noting that the State Health Secretariat will be responsible for vaccinating health and medical personnel in private hospitals in Nuevo Leon.
In turn, the regional delegate of the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS), Jorge Luis Hinojosa Moreno said that in this first phase the unit has some 16 thousand 671 thousand doses.
He said the IMSS system in the institution shall have more than 700 thousand vaccine to cover their dependents during the referred period until the first quarter of next year.
He assured that the institution is prepared with a contingency plan that if the problem extends beyond March 2010, reported that currently the entity is "yellow alert".
