Swine flu cases in the United States

Swine flu interactives: World map, U.S. timeline and how the strain emerged

This map shows the growing number of confirmed cases and deaths every week from swine flu, also known as H1N1 flu, since the federal government began publishing updates on April 23, 2009 and stopped publishing state tallies on July 24, 2009. As of August 20, 2009, there have been 7,983 hospitalized cases and 522 deaths in the USA and its territories.

Roll over a state to see the confirmed number of flu cases and deaths, as well as the rate of each per 1,000,000 people. This map is updated every Friday.

Note - At this time FluTrackers calculates 571 probable/highly suspected deaths in the United States. This number is understated and not warrantied.

Re: Novel H1N1 Cases/Deaths Map - USA Today through July 24, 2009

Note: The interactive USA Today map is outdated. Although text of the article notes 522 deaths in the USA and territories (also see wikipedia link), the number deaths reported on a state by state basis in the maps is only current through July 24th, 2009. Apparently only the number of infections and deaths in the introductory text to this map is updated on a weekly basis.
