The flu medicines Tamiflu and Relenza are prescription-free from Thursday, said Health and Care Services. From Thursday there are introduced a temporary arrangement that makes it possible to buy medicines in the pharmacy without a prescription.
- This will be an important measure to make these drugs more easily and more quickly available to patients, and to facilitate the handling of the pandemic, said Health and Human Services Minister Anne-Grete Str?m-Erichsen in a statement.
The scheme will apply to patients who are flu-sick, people who tend others with the flu and people at risk who are exposed to influenza infection.
Drugs can be obtained from the patient or by another on behalf of the patient. When the medication is retrieved, it must be submitted a completed form to the pharmacist in the pharmacy. These forms will be available in pharmacies and on www.pandemi.no.
At the same time these drugs will be cheaper than usual. Tamiflu will cost 50 kroner, and Relenza will cost 51 kroner. If you do not have a prescription, one must in addition pay 20 kroner for requisitioning the pharmacy.
