CNMI records two confirmed Covid-19 cases

The Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas has recorded its first two cases of Covid-19 according to the Governor.

Ralph Torres announced the positive results during a hurriedly organized press conference last night at the Commonwealth Health Care Corporation...

...One traveled from Guam on 12 March, and the other traveled to Tinian on 13 March and returned to Saipan on 14 March.

Both began to show symptoms of the coronavirus around 17 March and then sought care at the hospital on 25-26 March...

Saipan confirms suspected COVID-19 death

Northern Marianas Gov. Ralph Torres and his COVID-19 task force announced the first suspected COVID-19 death on Saipan.

The patient, a 70-year-old man, had been under investigation for suspected infection with the virus that causes COVID-19, according to the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp, or CHCC. He died Monday.

A specimen has been sent to the Guam Public Health Laboratory...

...Four more individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in the CNMI, the commonwealth government announced on Wednesday.

The four new cases include a 70-year-old man who died on March 30, as well as three females, ages 14, 60 and 77, according to a statement from Gov. Ralph Torres.

CNMI officials said as of April 1, they had submitted 31 specimens for COVID-19 testing to a laboratory at Guam's Department of Public Health and Social Services. Of those 31 specimens, 19 have been processed, resulting in six positive and 13 negative cases. The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. is still awaiting results for the other 12 specimens...
