Two further NI swine flu deaths


Details of swine flu related deaths are now only released once a week.

The Department of Health has confirmed there have been two further swine flu related deaths in the last week.

One was a nine-year-old girl who had underlying health problems. The other, a 65-year-old woman who was described as having serious health complications.

Chief Medical Officer Dr Michael McBride also said the number of people being hospitalised has increased by 12% in the last seven days.

Twelve people from NI have died after contracting the disease.

Ten of those deaths occurred in Northern Ireland, while one person died in England and another in Spain.

Details of swine flu related deaths are now only released once a week.

Earlier this week, the chair of the NI Assembly's health committee criticised the Department of Health policy.
