Northern Ireland: Covid-19 Cases - 8,123 cases, 568 deaths

Five more lives have been lost to Coronavirus in Northern Ireland, the Department of Health announced today.

Most recent figures for the reporting period of 10am Saturday May 9 to 10am Sunday May 10 shows that the death toll in Northern Ireland is now 435.

A further 41 positive tests have also been recorded by the Department in this time frame - bringing the total number of individuals tested to 32,634.

Of those tested, 4,119 have returned positive for the virus.

There have been six coronavirus deaths recorded in Northern Ireland in the last 24 hours, the Department of Health has confirmed.

The daily figure published for Monday shows that the total death toll in Northern Ireland is now 482.

There are currently 651 people hospitalised with coronavirus and 104 care home outbreaks, recorded on the department’s dashboard breakdown.

Close to 50,000 tests have been carried out for Covid-19 in the region to date.

On Monday the Health Minister announced a roll-out of testing to be made available to all care home residents and staff.

The daily figure of deaths published by the Department of Health is mainly comprised of deaths in hospitals.

The NISRA figures released last Friday for the period until 8 May recorded 599 total deaths, 294 took place in hospital and 269 in care homes, which was almost 45% of all deaths due to Covid-19.

A further eight people have sadly died here due to Coronavirus, bringing the overall death toll in Northern Ireland now to 514.

The latest report from the Department of Health on Monday indicates of the eight latest fatalities recorded, seven were aged 80 and over and one person was aged 60-79.....
At present, Northern Ireland has recorded a total of 4,609 cases of Covid-19.

There have been no Covid-19 related deaths reported by Northern Ireland's Department of Health in the past 24 hours.

It is the first day since 18 March - almost 10 weeks ago - that no deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland.

The latest figures from the department state the total number of people who have died remains the same as Monday's total of 514 deaths.
