State Health Department officials say about 1,100 doses of swine flu vaccine shipped to North Dakota may not work because of questions about the temperature levels during shipping. Officials say the vaccine is safe but it might not prevent swine flu, or H1N1.
A statement from the department recommends about 150 people who got the vaccine get another flu shot as a precaution.
The department said the vaccine shipped to the state was repackaged last Wednesday and sent to 99 health care providers around the state. The next day, some of the providers reported that the freeze indicator in the packages showed temperatures below safe shipping and storage range.
The Health Department estimates about 1,100 doses of injectable vaccine are affected out of a total 24,100 doses. It says the Flumist nasal spray was not affected.:tiphat:http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/apArticle/id/D9BF2URO0/
