Measles case reported in Pembina County; second case in North Dakota this year
Exposure is believed to have occurred earlier this month in Cavalier and Grand Forks.

GRAND FORKS COUNTY — A measles case has been reported in Pembina County, with possible exposure sites in Cavalier and Grand Forks.
The case was reported to the public by North Dakota Health and Human Services Thursday, Feb. 12. The statement says the person was unvaccinated and likely acquired the infection within the state.
This is North Dakota's second reported case of 2026, though the two cases are not believed to be linked, according to HHS. The first case, reported in Williams County earlier this month, was believed to be contracted by an unvaccinated person while they were out of state.
The second case's source of exposure is still under investigation by HHS, because no recent out of state or international travel was reported by the infected person...

...HHS, in coordination with Pembina County Public Health, is identifying and notifying individuals who may have been exposed. The following locations are identified as possible exposure locations:
February 4: Charras and Tequilas Mexican Cuisine in Grand Forks, between noon and 3 p.m.
February 4: Cavalier Public School gymnasium, between 3:45 p.m. and 7 p.m.
February 6: Clinic Care waiting room in Cavalier, between 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Exposed individuals are encouraged to monitor for symptoms and contact a health care provider if symptoms develop. Individuals who think they have measles should call first before seeking health care to avoid spreading measles to others. If not vaccinated, exposed individuals should quarantine (stay at home) for 21 days after the date of exposure...
