MULTAN: Punjab Minister for Health Dr Tahir Ali Javed has said that there is no case of bird flu in human, however consumers should avoid using chicken.
Talking to reporters on Friday, he said, ?We have made all out arrangements in emergency wards of all hospitals of the province to save the lives of the people in case of bird flu.? He said the government was setting up a nursing college, a kidney centre, a burn unit and a cardiology institute in Multan. He said the government was also considering a proposal to impose a ban on private practice of doctors.
Punjab to introduce Independent Prosecution Service next month: The Punjab government will introduce an Independent Prosecution Service (IPS) from next month under which civil and criminal prosecutors will be appointed under the prosecutor general of Punjab to deal with cases separately.
Punjab Law Minister Raja Muhammad Basharat said that the judiciary was being bifurcated into civil and criminal for early disposal of cases.
About the meeting of Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif in London, he said the meeting was not in their own interest and it would ruin their political career. However, this meeting would not affect the Pakistan Muslim League, which was enjoying the support of a majority of the people. He said both leaders had levelled some serious allegations of corruption, violation of the constitution on each other and both had declared ?security risk ?to each other.
PPP weeklong strike camp from May 1: The Pakistan People?s Party (PPP) has waged a crusade against dictators and for the restoration of ?true? democracy in the country, said PPP leaders at a party convention on Friday.
They said that only PPP was the party, which had provided jobs to youths and strengthened the country economically. They said the party had decided to revive its revolutionary role from May 1 (May Day) for oppressed, ignored and downtrodden classes of the country as the military rule had increased poverty, unemployment and price hike, which snatched bread and butter from labourers.
They also said the PPP had decided to stage weeklong hunger strike camps from May 1 to 7 in Punjab against unemployment, exploitation, poverty, corruption and social injustice.
MQM and PPP-Patriots reluctant to ally with PML: Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Religious Affairs Syed Asad Murtaza Gilani said that Pakistan needed a cool-minded information minister and Pakistan Railways required an aggressive minister who could bring about major changes in the department.
Talking to reporters on Friday, he said that the Pakistan Muslim League was considering a proposal to contest the general elections along with other coalition parties at one platform with one symbol but the Muttahida Qaumi Movement and the Rao-led Pakistan People?s Party were not ready to accept the proposal.
