Gusau ? The alarm raised by the Emir of Gusau, Alhaji Mohammed Kabir Danbaba in Zamfara state, purporting a fresh outbreak of lead poisoning has set him on a collision course with the state government. Our correspondent chronicled the scenario.

In an announcement he personally read, the Emir said "We have confirmed that what happened in Anka and Bukkuyum two years back where many people died from a strange disease confirmed as lead poisoning is discovered in Gusau Emirate as result of the processing of gold ore within some communities..."
