The authorities of Nicaragua detected in the last weeks six confirmed cases of flu A (H1N1) and more than 200 suspicious cases of the illness that provoked a pandemic last year, reported today the minister of Health, Guillermo Gonz?lez. Gonz?lez said that although more than 200 patients present symptoms of flu A (H1N1), " the virus is circulating minimally in the country and there being more presence of seasonal influenza " or common flu. The holder of Health gave declarations after getting officially this Tuesday the first lot of 110.000 vaccines against the human influenza donated for the Pan-American Organization of the Health (OPS). He repeated that the product will begin to be applied in the next days to workpeople of the health, pregnant women and chronic patients, for being a part of the so-called " group of risk ". The representative of the OPS in Managua, Jorge Luis Prosperi, said that the OPS reckons to grant to Nicaragua another 440.000 vaccines during this year. The flu A (H1N1) caused 11 dead persons and affected 2.200 persons since it appeared in this Central American country on June 1, 2009.
