CANDIA, N.H. -- State health officials confirmed Sunday the first human case of EEE in New Hampshire this year.

The girl is Rosemary Shifflett, 3, from Candia. Her father, Eric, said she is now recovering from the virus at Boston Children's Hospital.

Shifflett said he believes Rosemary, was bitten by a mosquito while playing on the jungle gym in their backyard.

He says she got a fever and was hospitalized last week.

Rosemary endured extricating pain and lapsed into two seizures before going into a coma.

He says she's made extraordinary progress since then.
