HA NOI ? The Vietnam News Agency and its Chinese counterpart Xinhua should step up their co-operation to disseminate news and information to help deepen the comprehensive relations between the two countries, said Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.
At a reception for Xinhua permanent Deputy General Director Zhang Xiaohua in Ha Noi yesterday, Hung urged the two agencies to strengthen solidarity and exchange experiences in modern journalism while praising their joint organisation of a photo exhibition to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Vietnamese-Chinese diplomatic ties this year.
Zhang is in Ha Noi to work with the Vietnam News Agency and attend the exhibition.
He confirmed the agencies would continue co-operating to publish accurate and timely news and information about Viet Nam?s renewal and Chinese open-door policies, and in new fields of co-operation that included financial news and television.

On Wednesday, Zhang and Vietnam News Agency General Director Tran Mai Huong discussed measures to expand their co-operation.
Huong said they hoped to share experiences in information competition, new types of information, advanced technologies and service quality.
Zhang said the agencies were their governments? official information channels, each with their own strengths to complement the other.
He said Xinhua was willing to share its experiences to help its Vietnamese counterpart improve and adapt to advancing information development.
The joint photo exhibition opened in Ha Noi yesterday, with more than 200 photos and will stay open till next Wednesday. The same exhibition was opened in Bejing on Monday.
Zhang said the photos and information the agencies had published had made a big contribution to the nations? development over the past 60 years.
Huong said the exhibition would contribute to increasing mutual trust and understanding between the two people, which was necessary for their development. ? VNS
