This from Ashley Bloomfield Health Director General

"There has been a Flattening of new cases over the past five days.

Importantly the flattening off has continued over the past three days during which time there has been increased testing.

During that time the test positivity rate has dropped.

The next coming days should show whether there is a real flattening off.

Then a drop off in new cases would be expected"

More than 3200 tests were completed on Friday - almost twice the daily average the week earlier - but the number of new cases was broadly similar.
