New York - COVID-19 cases - 443k cases and 32,987 deaths?

I'm not sure how to proceed with reporting state fatality totals given timing and lag differences between different reports. Current state toll is 11,586 deaths which includes no more than 7,905 cases from NYC. But NYC is reporting 6,840 confirmed + 4,059 probable = 10,899. This would bring the state toll to at least 14,580 deaths. Gov Cuomo hinted yesterday that the state was moving towards confirmed/probable reporting. That might give a clearer overall picture. Will see what happens at today's press conference.

Thanks Ronan. Very confusing. Some countries are hard to read too - like France. They report the nursing home cases separately so you have to add 2 numbers to get the more accurate picture.

Comment: The disparities arise because (1) state data (and NYT) is not tracking the probable deaths and (2) different time frames.

My take - the state data 15,302 deaths includes 10,614 from the city, but the city has reported 14,996 deaths to 2:30 pm increasing the state toll to 19,684 as a minimum. - Ro
