The Food and Drug Administration is investigating a new outbreak of Salmonella Newport infections of unknown origin.
As of Feb. 20 there were 27 confirmed patients, but the FDA is not releasing the patients’ ages or where they live. The agency has begun traceback efforts but is not yet reporting what food is being traced.
For an outbreak of infections from Listeria monocytogenes, the patient count has increased to 38. The FDA has not reported the ages of the patients or where they live.
