STRATFORD ? A New Jersey woman tested negative for Ebola after she was rushed to Kennedy University Hospital for a fever Tuesday night, hospital officials said.

The Gloucester Township woman was transported to the hospital in Stratford after she showed symptoms of a fever around 6:13 p.m., according to Director of Communications Dan Keashen.

The patient, who had recently traveled to West Africa, was evaluated in isolation at the hospital's emergency department and was diagnosed with a travel-related illness.

GLOUCESTER TWP. ? The woman whose fever sparked fears over Ebola at Kennedy Hospital in Stratford Tuesday actually has malaria and is not a risk to public health, according to Camden County Officials.

Camden County Director of Nursing Caludia Funaro said the patient insisted that they release her true diagnosis so the public knows there is no threat.

"Malaria presents with flu-like symptoms," she said. "She was symptomatic with a fever only, and it is not spread from person to person. The transmission is through the bite of an infected mosquito, which she got while traveling in West Africa."
