? Influenza-like illness and acute respiratory illness were the same or similar compared to the previous week at 0.4% and 1.9% of patient visits, respectively.
? Pneumonia and influenza-related deaths accounted for 6.0% of deaths, which was below the epidemic threshold of 10.5% for week 49.
? Forty new respiratory specimens were submitted for laboratory testing during week 49, and thirty were positive, including 28 for seasonal influenza AH3 and two for influenza B. Nine were negative and one was inconclusive.

• Pneumonia and influenza-related deaths accounted for 12.4% of deaths, which was above the epidemic threshold of 10.5% for week 50.
• Forty-six new respiratory specimens were submitted for laboratory testing during week 50, and 36 were positive for seasonal influenza AH3. Ten were negative.

New Hampshire Flu Update

Like many areas of the country, flu activity in New Hampshire continues to increase with high levels of influenza-like-illness being reported in communities around the State.

  • So far this season there have been 44 outbreaks reported, most occuring in nursing homes or long-term care facilities; 24 of those outbreaks remain open and active.
  • There have been 25 flu-related deaths in New Hampshire so far this flu season.
  • Anyone over the age of 6 months is encouraged to get vaccinated as it remains the best protection against the illness.

The overall state student absenteeism for ILI rate was 0.3% for the week based on 86(13%) schools reporting students absent due to ILI.
