The idea is: the hospital wants to get rid of the bacteria( Acinetobacter Baumannii). Two patients were infected in the ICU; the ICU is isolated and will be desinfected.

This could take at least 6 weeks. So to be able to treat other patients, a temporary ICU from the army is build.

ENSCHEDE - A military unit is in Enschede to compete in the parking lot at the hospital Medical Spectrum Twente (MST) noodafdeling for intensive care (ic) to build.

Emergency IC Enschede

The existing ic department is Thursday in two patients the bacterium Acinetobacter Baumannii found.

The bacterium can be compared with another ziekenhuisbacterie, MRSA. Both bacteria are stubborn and insensitive to most antibiotics.

Dangers

The Acinetobacter Baumannii can cause infections in any body, but infections of the respiratory tract are the most common.

The bacterium can be particularly dangerous for people who are beademd. Especially people with a reduced risk of a walk resistance contamination.

Contamination

The disease was discovered Monday already. This is a spokesman for MST Thursday.

"They immediately to the isoleerafdeling of the ic. Perhaps there are more patients are infected. Which is currently still under investigation."

Emergency care units

The emergency ic department gets a size of 40 to 50 meters. A similar semipermanente ic unit is also at the Dutch military camp in Afghanistan, reports the spokesman.

Desinfection

On the infected ic department of the MST are currently fourteen patients. They simply remain there.

"Only when the last patient from the ic department has been dismissed, can be started with the disinfection of this section."

Months

According Arkenbout, it could take three months before this is the case. Until that time, the MST rely on the emergency.

That counts a total of twelve beds. According to the MST is a full-ic unit with all possible facilities.

Army

Spokesman Sander Hendricks of the Army says that his troops need ten hours every ic unit to build.

"In the course of Friday morning, the ic operational." According to Hendricks, it is the first time that a Dutch hospital appeals to a need-ic.

Can it be that any patient in an intensive care unit need 3 more months of intensive care?

"Perhaps there are more patients are infected. Which is currently still under investigation."

30-40 quarantine days + incubation period?
