Netherlands - 500 dead birds at Texel island infected with bird flu

On Texel island bird flu is spreading fast. Scattered across the island already nearly 500 birds were killed.

Waalburg park is closed to visitors to prevent further spread. In Waalburg the first fifteen sick birds were found last week. Following that discovery bird sanctuary Ecomare temporarily doesn't takes new waterfowl.

Meanwhile, also dead birds were found outside the nature reserve. An area with a radius of 20 kilometers around find places is regarded as infected area. That means for Texel that the entire island has been declared now infected, writes regional broadcasting NH.
