EPIDEMIOLOGICAL COMMENTS
On the 24th of July 2023 an outbreak of H5N1 was confirmed on a free range laying hen poultry farm in Biddinghuizen, a 3 km protection zone and a 10 km surveillance zone have been established. In the 3 km zone there are 2 other poultry premises . There were no signs of possible infection. All screening test results were negative. The subtype HPAI H5N1 is confirmed by the National Reference Laboratory Wageningen Bioveterinary Research (WBVR) Lelystad the Netherlands. All susceptible animals on the infected premises have been killed.
